Flackers Flax Crackers: A Low-Carb, Blood Sugar-Friendly Snack

Published: Sep 29, 2025 by Jen Birge, MS, RDN, CDCES · This post may contain affiliate links · Leave a Comment

When it comes to finding a crunchy cracker that’s convenient, satisfying, and blood sugar–friendly, Flackers Flax Crackers will do the trick. Traditional crackers are often packed with refined flours (simple carbs) that can spike blood sugar levels and promote insulin resistance.

However, these flaxseed crackers promote balanced blood sugar levels while being full of heart-healthy and satiating fats.

    What Makes These Crackers Different?

Unlike regular crackers made with wheat or rice flour, Sea Salt Flackers Flax Crackers are made almost entirely from flaxseeds. You can purchase them here (affiliate link). This makes them naturally:

    • Lower in carbs: Just 10 grams of carbs per serving (one serving is about 8 crackers).
    • Moderate in protein: 6 grams per serving to help keep you satisfied with balanced blood sugar levels.
    • Great protein-to-carb ratio: A ratio of one gram of protein to no more than 2 grams of carbohydrates is ideal. You can read more about how this helps with blood sugar levels here.
    • Rich in healthy fats: 11 grams of omega-3–rich fatty acids to support heart and brain health; healthy fats also promote satiety and balanced blood sugar levels, resulting in less insulin resistance.

The Flackers Flax Crackers are more than just a crunchy snack. They’re a smart choice for a cracker, especially if you pair the crackers with a healthy dip, like our High-Protein Dip with Canned Smoked Trout.

A Smarter Choice for Blood Sugar Balance: Flackers Flax Crackers Are Full of Fiber

For anyone wanting to keep blood sugar levels stable, Flackers Flax Crackers can be helpful. For the Sea Salt version, each serving of 8 crackers provides 9 grams of fiber. Other flavors have similar but slightly different amounts of macronutrients and fiber.

Fiber helps slow down the increase in blood sugar because it slows down how quickly we digest food. Fiber is also beneficial for gut health and heart health.

How much fiber do we need each day? A general recommendation is that we aim for at least 25 grams of fiber per day. One serving of these crackers provides over a third of the recommended amount!

    Other Varieties of Flackers Crackers

Flackers Flax Crackers have the following varieties (or flavors):

    • Sea Salt (as shown)
    • Cinnamon
    • Savory
    • Rosemary
    • Cheeze-Please
    • Maple
    • Spicy Chili Lime

Besides our High-Protein Dip With Canned Smoked Trout you can try these options:

    • Top them with avocado for a nutrient-dense snack
    • Pair them with our No Mayo Chicken Salad
    • Use them as a crunchy side with soups or salads

My Thoughts About Flackers Flax Crackers

Let's face it, when a company makes a food product that doesn't have a lot of fillers, or unhealthy ingredients, the product is usually more expensive. So, we end up paying for convenience and a healthier product.

If we do the math, the Flacker crackers are a bit pricey at about 20 cents/cracker. However, we are all busy with work, family, and pickleball (ha). So, it might be worth the convenience to you. It often is to me!

When we were testing these crackers, Jackelin was inspired to make a recipe to share on our blog, not because of the cost, but because she felt she could make a tastier cracker. She definitely did!

And, the cost comparison is really impressive. Our Seed Cracker Recipe makes around 55 crackers for only $2.50 per batch. That's almost 5 cents/cracker. That's quite a bit less, right? And, you can even freeze them, if you'd like.

Our Seed Crackers also have a variety of other seeds, like hemp hearts, pumpkin seeds, and sunflower seeds. The Flacker Flax Crackers only have flaxseeds.

Pro tip: Like with any seed product, we recommend at least refrigerating the seed crackers. Healthy seeds like flaxseeds have healthy fats that can go rancid. Refrigerating them can help delay this process.

    Final Thoughts About Flackers Crackers

The Flackers Flax Crackers are tasty and worth a try! I haven't tried all the varieties, but I really do like the Sea Salt ones. I also love our Seed Cracker Recipe and both are blood sugar-friendly. Let us know if you try either one. We love feedback from you!
